A Marshall man facing felony charges after an alleged assault to a farm hand back in February has a hearing set for this next week.
During the morning hours of February 28, the Saline County Sheriff’s Office responded to a call in regards to an assault that had taken place on a farm facility just south of Marshall Junction. Aaron Smith is accused of assaulting the victim when the victim and another person arrived to check on cattle at the facility. According to witness statements, when Smith approached the two men he began assaulting the victim by kicking and hitting him and continued to assault the victim with a feed bucket when he was on the ground.
The victim reportedly suffered fractures and facial trauma as a result of the assault.
Smith has been charged with a Class B Felony for Assault in the First Degree. Smith posted 10% of his $50,000 bond on March 2, but that bond was revoked during his initial arraignment on June 3 after a urinalysis tested positive for illegal drugs.
Smith is currently being held without bond.
His next court appearance is scheduled to be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, June 17 at Saline County Circuit Court.
