A 38-year-old Brookfield man facing multiple felony charges after he led authorities on a pursuit through multiple counties and was arrested in Saline County in February has waived his formal arraignment.
Matthew Guilford was on the run from authorities after they attempted to pull him over near Laclede just before 3 p.m. on February 11. After he traveled through Livingston, Carroll and Lafayette Counties and into Saline County, the pursuit ended after about an hour and Guilford was taken into custody.
Guilford was wanted for a felony warrant out of Linn County, as well as a Federal Parole Violation warrant.
Guilford has been charged with a Class A Felony for Assault in the First Degree or Attempt; a Class D Felony for Possession of a Controlled Substance; Class E Felonies for Resisting Arrest, Detention or Stop by Fleeing and Resisting Arrest for a Felony; and an Unclassified Felony for Armed Criminal Action. Bond remains at $50,000 cash only.
Guilford waived his formal arraignment and entered a plea of not guilty on June 9. A hearing in Guilford’s case is set for 9 a.m. on July 17 at Linn County Circuit Court.
