On February 22, Sedalia Police officers responded to the 700 block of East 17th Street where they found Robert G. Fox lying in the street, dead from an apparent gunshot wound to the chest.
After an investigation, detectives were able to establish a motive and identify a suspect vehicle that later led authorities to a subject who also lived in the Kansas City, Kansas, area. By using law-enforcement investigative resources, detectives were able to track the suspect vehicle to Sedalia prior to the homicide and back to the KCK area.
Daniel Fernandez, 27, has been charged with a Class A Felony for Murder in the Second Degree; a Class D Felony for Kidnapping in the Second Degree; and an Unclassified Felonies for Armed Criminal Action and Unlawful Use of a Weapon.
Fernandez waived his right to a Preliminary Hearing that was scheduled to be held on Friday, June 26. On Wednesday, June 24, the Pettis County Prosecutor filed for Grand Jury Indictment. No other information is available at this time.
