A 20-year-old Sedalia woman has been charged with a couple of felonies after authorities were called to the scene of a reported disturbance on Wednesday, July 22.
According to a Sedalia Police Department report, officers were dispatched to the 300 block of West 4th Street and heard screaming coming from an apartment. A woman tried to not let authorities enter the apartment, but they were able to get inside. Lae’Loni Johnson was immediately handcuffed and taken to and placed in the patrol car. Another woman inside alleged that Johnson had choked her until she couldn’t breathe while she was holding her baby. The alleged victim also said Johnson would not let her leave and had threatened to kill her and her baby if she tried to leave the apartment.
Johnson has been charged with Class D Felonies for Domestic Assault in the Second Degree and Tamper or Attempt to Tamper with a Victim in a Felony Prosecution; as well as a misdemeanor for endangering the welfare of a child in the second degree. Bond has been fixed at $10,000 cash or surety.
Johnson’s initial hearing is pending at Pettis County Circuit Court.
