Sedalia Police officers responded to the 700 block of East 17th Street on February 22, where they found Robert G. Fox lying in the street, dead from an apparent gunshot wound to the chest.

After an investigation, detectives were able to establish a motive and identify a suspect vehicle that later led authorities to a subject who also lived in the Kansas City, Kansas, area. Authorities tracked the suspect vehicle to Sedalia prior to the homicide and back to the KCK area, and 27-year-old Daniel Fernandez was charged.

Fernandez has been charged with a Class A Felony for Murder in the Second Degree; a Class D Felony for Kidnapping in the Second Degree; and Unclassified Felonies for Armed Criminal Action and Unlawful Use of a Weapon.

A Hearing in this case that was scheduled to be held Monday, August 3 has been rescheduled and is now set to be held at 9 a.m. on Monday, August 17 at Pettis County Circuit Court.
