After reporting no positive active cases on Saturday, August 1, the Chariton County Health Center now says that changed on Sunday, August 2.

The health center says it has been notified that there are two new positive cases of COVID-19 in the county.

This makes the total of 15 positive COVID-19 cases in the county since the beginning of the pandemic, with 13 of them being released from observation.

No further information will be provided about these individuals by the Chariton County Health Center, which will be working on contact tracing using the CDC guidelines to identify anyone who may have come into contact with the individuals while they were infectious. Those contacts will be asked to self-quarantine for 14 days, and will be monitored for fever, respiratory issues and other symptoms of COVID-19.
