One 17-year-old Blue Springs resident died and another suffered serious injuries in a rollover Utility-Terrain Vehicle crash in Saline County on Monday.

According to a report from the Missouri State Highway Patrol, the crash occurred as Sydnee Soendker lost control of a northbound UTV, resulting in a skid. The UTV traveled off the side of the roadway, struck a ditch, overturned and ejected both occupants- neither of whom was wearing a safety device.

Soendker was pronounced deceased on the scene by a Saline County deputy at 2:04 p.m. A passenger- Katelin Stiles- was flown by Life Flight Eagle helicopter to University Hospital in Columbia for treatment.

The crash happened at 1:45 p.m. on Mariner Avenue at 270th Road.
