A 55-year-old St. Louis, Illinois, man was seriously injured in a crash involving three vehicles that stalled traffic for a while at the 71 mile marker on eastbound I-70 in Saline County on Wednesday.
According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, the crash occurred as a 2013 Volvo with a towed unit, driven by 38-year-old Bereket Habtemariam, of Houston Texas, failed to yield to the slowing traffic and struck a Kenworth with a towed unit, driven by 47-year-old Teri McKinney, of Grandview. The Kenworth then struck a freightliner with a towed unit, driven by Sherman Lockett.
While Habtemariam and McKinney were not injured, Lockett was transported to University Hospital in Columbia for treatment; and a passenger in McKinney’s Kenworth – 37-year-old Abraham Yonas, of Sioux Falls, South Dakota- was transported to Fitzgibbon Hospital in Marshall for treatment of moderate injuries.
The crash happened at 12:12 p.m.
