A University of Central Missouri student who is facing a felony charge after a student died in a shooting incident on November 4, 2019, is due for a court proceeding this week.

According to a news release from UCM, its Department of Public Safety responded to a report of an accidental discharge of a firearm at an on-campus apartment in Warrensburg, which resulted in the death of Stephon Abron, a student from St. Charles.

The investigation by Johnson County Sheriff’s and Warrensburg Police Department personnel resulted in the arrest of 24-year-old Jeremy Allen Manley, of Kansas City.

Manley has been charged with a Class E Felony for Involuntary Manslaughter in the Second Degree. Bond originally was set at $100,000 cash or surety. But it was amended to $40,000 cash or surety, with 10-percent approved during his arraignment hearing on November 15. Manley posted $4,000 cash bond on November 18.

A case review is scheduled for 10 a.m. on Wednesday, August 19, at Johnson County Circuit Court.
