An inmate at an area jail has been charged with a felony for allegedly attempting to assault a correction officer on July 1 at the Boonville Correctional Center.

According to a probable-cause affidavit, James Glass was in the bathroom with other offenders after a fight took place. A correction officer was in the bathroom to keep the offenders who were there in the bathroom. There was another incident that was happening, and Glass approached the correction officer and started to push him out of the way. At this time, there was rioting that started in the housing unit.

Glass has been charged with a Class B Felony for Violence to an Employee of the Department of corrections.

An arraignment in this case has been scheduled for 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, August 25 at Cooper County Circuit Court.
