During the Pettis County COVID-19 Task Force Briefing on Monday, August 31, it was reported there have been 58 new cases of the virus reported in the county since the last briefing on August 24. There are currently 763 positive cases of the virus in the county. With 646 of those cases deemed recovered, there are 108 active cases. There have been a total of nine deaths related to the virus in Pettis County and two people are currently hospitalized.

The positivity rate for August 8-14 was 9.25-percent and just 5.95-percent for the week of August 15-21, which is an improvement. The goal is to be at 5% or lower. Wearing masks, social distancing, good hand-washing and avoiding crowds are all important steps to help keep our community as safe as possible.

According to the Pettis County Health Center, a vaccine is available in some locations and the Health Center will soon begin immunizations for flu. The Health Center will keep the community posted when appointments are available.

The face covering rule remains in effect in Pettis County.
