Another COVID-19-related death was reported in area county and more positive cases in all area counties from their last updates.

According to health-department officials, the death toll is up to nine in Pettis County. The overall positive case count grew by 14 from 749 on Friday, August 28, to 763 on Monday, August 31. With nine deaths and 646 positive patients recovered, there are 108 active cases, including two persons hospitalized.

Eighteen new positive cases were confirmed in Howard County. That raises its total to 154. With 92 positive cases recovered , there are 62 active cases, including three hospitalized.

Saline County’s total positive case count increased by 11 over the weekend and Monday to 549. With 464 positive patients recovered and nine deaths, there are 76 active cases, including three persons hospitalized.

Eleven new positive cases were confirmed in Lafayette County, increasing its total to 240. With three deaths and 195 recoveries, there are 42 active cases. About 17 percent of the county’s population has been tested. Zip Code totals to date by towns/facilities are: Alma, 10; Bates City, 12; Concordia, 22; Corder, four; Emma, one: Higginsville, 39; Lexington, 35; Mayview, three; Napoleon, six; Rural Oak Grove, three; Odessa, 44; Wellington, eight; Waverly, 26; Apple Ridge Care Center, 17; Waverly Regional Youth Center, six; Riverbend Heights, four.

Cooper County health officials say four new positive cases were confirmed, bringing its overall total to 233. With 182 total recoveries and three deaths, there are 48 active cases. Eleven cases are travel-related and 222 are through community transmission. In congregate-living situations, there have been 105 positive cases- 74 inmates and 31 employees. Nine positive cases have been in nursing homes and assisted-living centers.

Three new positive cases were confirmed in Chariton County, increasing its total count to 39. Since 22 positive patients have been released from public health isolation as recovered, there are 17 active cases.

In Carroll County, two new cases were confirmed, raising its overall total to 97. With 93 positive patients recovered, four cases are active.
