A 35-year-old Marshall man who was released on bond regarding another felony charge is facing a new charge after an alleged incident on September 6.

Michael Terrell Baker is alleged to have caused property damage by driving his vehicle onto Cecil Naylor Field on the Marshall High School campus and tearing it up on July 27. The field suffered thousands of dollars of damage, and Baker is facing a Class E Felony for Property Damage in the First Degree along with several other charges. He posted 10 percent or $1,500 of a $15,000 bond on September 3. As a provision of his release, Baker was ordered to wear a GPS monitoring device.

On September 6, a Saline County deputy was advised by dispatch to respond to a residence in the 1200 block of South Sharp Avenue in Marshall in reference to Baker allegedly tampering with the device. The device was located inside the residence. It had been cut off of Baker, who was not there. He was later located and arrested.

The new charge is a Class D Felony for Tampering with Electronic Monitoring Equipment. Bond has been set at $10,000 cash only.

Baker’s initial arraignment hearing was scheduled to be held on Wednesday, September 9, at Saline County Circuit Court. An update is not available at this time.
