
The total number of positive COVID-19 cases jumped by double digits in five counties in the KMMO listening area on Wednesday, October 28, since the last time each county updated case numbers.
According to health-department officials, the largest increase was in Cooper County, but the increase of 62 cases was during a week since Wednesday, October 21, was its last update. The total number of positive cases is now 697 since the beginning of the pandemic. With 629 positive patients released from public health isolation as recovered and two deaths, there are 66 active cases, including three positive patients hospitalized.
The largest increase in one day was in Pettis County, where the positive case count grew by 34 to 1,788. Due to 1,290 positive patients recovered and 26 deaths, there are 472 active cases, including 19 persons hospitalized.
In Saline County, 15 new positive cases were confirmed, raising its total to 1,026. With 938 positive patients recovered and 14 deaths, there are 74 active cases, including six persons hospitalized.
Howard County’s total increased by 13 to 422. Due to 393 positive patients recovered and one death, there are 28 active cases.
Ten new positive cases were confirmed in Chariton County, raising its total to 108. With 88 positive patients recovered, there are 20 active cases.
Updates were not available from Carroll and Lafayette Counties.
