A 33-year-old Kingsville man died in a two-vehicle traffic crash in Johnson County on Sunday.

According to a report from the Missouri State Highway Patrol, the crash occurred as a southbound vehicle, driven by Jasper Smith, attempted to cross a median crossover and traveled into the path of and was struck by an eastbound vehicle, driven by 17-year-old Josiah Musick, of Holden.

Smith, who was not wearing a seat belt, was pronounced deceased at the scene at 2:38 p.m. by Johnson County Coroner Clark Holdren. Musick was transported by Johnson County ambulance to Children’s Mercy Hospital for treatment of minor injuries.

The crash happened at 1:34 p.m. on U.S. Highway 50 at Northwest 1601st Road.
