
Nearly two dozen more positive cases of COVID-19 were reported in an area county over the Christmas holiday break.
According to the Saline County Health Department’s Dashboard, the total count is up by 21 from Wednesday, December 23, to 2,172 on Sunday, December 27. With 2,003 inactive cases and 43 COVID-19-related deaths, there are 126 active cases in the county.
Less than a handful of new positive cases of COVID-19 were reported in the last few days in Chariton County.
According to health-department officials, four new positive cases were added since last reported, raising the county’s total to 614 since the beginning of the pandemic. Over the same time frame, 11 previously positive cases were released from public health isolation as recovered, raising that total to 549. With 15 COVID-19-related deaths and 549 recoveries, there are 50 active cases.
Updates were not available from Carroll, Cooper, Howard, Lafayette and Pettis Counties.
