One area county updated COVID-19 numbers on New Year’s Day.

According to health-department officials, two new positive cases were added in Chariton County, increasing its total to 669 since the beginning of the pandemic. Six of the previously positive cases were released from public health isolation as recovered, increasing that total to 577. So, with 15 COVID-19-related deaths and 577 recoveries, there are 77 active cases in the county.

Updates were not available from Saline, Carroll, Cooper, Howard, Lafayette and Pettis Counties.
