Benjamin Lewis Wade, age 82, of rural Sweet Springs, MO, died Thursday, January 7, 2021, at home.

Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, January 19, at Campbell-Lewis Chapel in Concordia, MO, with Rev. Eric Kurz and William W. Harlow officiating. Visitation will be held from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Burial, with military rites, will be at Missouri State Veterans’ Cemetery in Higginsville. Face masks are required and social distancing will be observed at all services. Memorials are suggested to Missouri Veterans Cemetery. Born October 8, 1938, in Wapato, WA, he was the son of the late Franklin Earl Wade and Merle Householder Wade. He was a U.S. Navy veteran serving from 1956 to 1962 in Hawaii. On February 6, 1960, he married Marlene Bird who preceded him in death on May 18, 2012. He was a member of Christ Lutheran Church in rural Sweet Springs and was baptized on April 18, 2005 and confirmed on February 16, 2014. His employment field was in dam construction as a dynamite specialist. He lived in rural Sweet Springs the last eight years, moving from Alma, MO, also living in Hawaii and the state of Washington. He was a member of the Moose Lodge in Lexington, MO.

Survivors include one son, Steve Wade of Palm Springs, CA: several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; one brother, Vernon Wade of Goldendale, WA; several nieces and nephews; and Ben’s companion, Anna Bargfrede and her family.

In addition to his parents and wife, Ben was preceded in death by one son, Michael Wade; and one sister, Thelma Dinsmore.
