
Two Higginsville men are facing felony charges following an incident on October 31, 2020 in Lafayette County.
Blake and Rodney Benton were arrested after officers with the Higginsville Police Department were dispatched to a residence in the 300 block of West Broadway in regards to an assault, no longer in progress.
Both men are charged with a Class B Felony for Burglary in the First Degree; a Class E Felony for Attempt of Stealing-Physical Take. Blake Benton is also charged with a Class E Felony for Assault in the Third Degree, while Rodney Benton is charged with a Misdemeanor for Assault in the Fourth Degree.
Blake Benton remains in custody on $50,000 cash or surety bond. Rodney Benton was released from custody after posting 10-percent of a $50,000 bond on November 20.
Rodney Benton’s Plea/Trial Setting is scheduled for 9 a.m., Monday, April 19. Both cases are scheduled to be heard at Lafayette County Circuit Court.
Pre-trial Conference for Blake Benton is scheduled for 3 p.m., Monday, August 2 with a one-day jury trial set for 8:30 a.m., Friday, August 20 at Lafayette County Circuit Court.
