Current and prospective vendors are invited to the Sedalia Area Farmers’ Market vendor interest and food-safety training scheduled to be held online at 6 p.m. on Thursday, April 8.
Due to the ongoing pandemic, the interactive training will be presented live via Zoom, with opportunities to ask questions. It also will be available for on-demand viewing. All vendors must attend and/or view the current training prior to selling at the market.
Prospective vendors will learn about plans for the 2021 market, and receive information about rules and regulations. All vendors in attendance will learn about food-safety requirements from the Pettis County Health Center and legal requirements from the Missouri Department of Agriculture Weights & Measures Division.

Scale certification and egg licenses will be available at a vendor setup rehearsal anticipated for Thursday, April 29. At that time, you need to bring scales; and if you are selling eggs, one dozen eggs packaged and labeled as it would be sold at market.
“This is a great opportunity for first-time vendors to learn more about the market, and for prospective vendors to decide whether to give it a try,” said Franziska Malsy-Murphy, market board president.
As a local, producer-only market, all vendors must produce their own goods (with limited exceptions); be from Pettis County or its contiguous counties (with limited exceptions); and open their production area for a marketing visit. The first market day of the season will be Friday, May 7. The market is open from 3 to 6 p.m. Tuesdays and Fridays at the Missouri State Fairgrounds. This season, the market will be moving to its new home in the Nucor Pavilion, located at the Centennial Main Gate on the Missouri State Fairgrounds on south Highway 65 across from Kehde’s BBQ.
