A Bates City man was injured in a train versus car crash in Lafayette County Friday afternoon.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol reports the collision occurred when 23-year-old Blake Jackson, attempted drive his vehicle across the railroad tracks and into the path of a moving Kansas City Southern train. Jackson was transported by ambulance to Centerpoint Hospital in Independence for treatment.

The crash happened at 2:56 p.m. Friday, on Love Road, south of Old Highway 40.
