Bond has been set at six figures for a 44-year-old Higginsville man who has been charged with multiple felonies in Jackson County.

According to court documents, Steven B. Turner Jr. is facing two counts of Murder in the First Degree for allegedly shooting two people to death in Independence last weekend.

Court documents say in addition to the murder charges, Turner is charged with two counts of Armed Criminal Action. Bond is set at $300,000 cash only.

Turner’s initial appearance is scheduled for 1:30 p.m. on Friday, May 28, at Jackson County Circuit Court.
