Some bids were approved during the meeting of the Sweet Springs Board of Aldermen on Monday, June 14, including several for the Public Works Department that totaled more than $62,000.

According to unofficial minutes from the meeting, the board approved bids to buy a Ford F350 pickup truck from Elmer Hare Ford Sales in Marshall for $34,955; two snow plows from Key Hydraulics for a total of $15,670; a spreader from Key Hydraulics for $6,130; and the bed from Truck Country for $5,927- all for the Public Works Department. The city received bids from four area car dealerships for the truck.

Public Works Department Superintendent Nate Lea also reported city workers had to clean out a sewer that was full of wet wipes. He pointed out these items cannot be flushed.

In other news, aldermen approved a bid from Parrish Barrier for $6,500 to repair the wall at city hall. It does not include dirt work. The work should be completed by September 1.
