A Marshall man who was arrested after a pursuit in Marshall on Saturday, June 19, has been formally charged with a couple of felonies.

According to a release from the Marshall Police Department, at approximately 3:55 p.m., dispatch received a call in reference to a male subject tearing stickers off a U-Haul. The calling party stated they believed the U-Haul could be stolen.

Upon officers’ arrival, they observed a white single-cab Chevrolet Silverado 1500, with what appeared to be remnants of the U-Haul stickers on the rear of the vehicle, in the front yard of a residence. Officers observed the vehicle was occupied by a male with his hair in some type of bun on his head, who led officers on a pursuit on several city streets, sometimes at a high rate of speed.

The vehicle was located unoccupied at approximately 4:20 p.m. on South Colby. A computer check of the Arizona license plate on the vehicle revealed it was stolen from Overland Park, Kansas.

At approximately 5:15 p.m., the police department received a call in reference to a male subject in all dark clothing and a tiara around his neck, who told the calling party he had to jump four fences and mentioned something about a U-Haul and taking the decals off the vehicle. The calling party stated the male subject currently was southbound on the runway of the Marshall Municipal Airport.

Officers- along with Saline County deputies and the Missouri State Highway Patrol troopers- were able to set up a perimeter. At approximately 5:44 p.m., Kyle James Bryant was taken into custody and transported to the Saline County Justice Facility.

Court documents say Bryant is charged with a Class D Felony for Tampering with a Motor Vehicle in the First Degree and Class E Felonies for Resisting Arrest, Detention or Stop by Fleeing and Driving While Revoked or Suspended. Bond is set at $15,000.

Bryant was scheduled to be arraigned on Monday, June 21. His next hearing is pending at Saline County Circuit Court.
