The city of Marshall is taking steps to develop the land known as the Gieringer Property.

During the meeting of the city council on Monday, June 21, the council considered approval of a property survey and engineering proposal for the property, which is situated at the corner of South Lincoln Avenue and Watermill Road in the southeastern part of the city.

Ward 2 Councilman Robert Ashford made a recommendation.

Ward 1 Councilman Leon Thompson pointed out this will be paid for out of the Economic Development funds.

Ward 2 Councilman Kirk Arends gave an update on the search for a new executive director of the Marshall-Saline Development Corporation.

Sandy Allison’s resignation as executive director was effective on May 15.

In other news, the council approved the city vacating tracts of land on Jefferson Avenue and Mitchell Streets.
