An arrest has been made in connection with reported thefts in Pettis County.

According to the Sedalia Police Department, on Thursday, July 8, police officers and detectives executed a search warrant on a residence in the 100 block of East Johnson Street. This search warrant was obtained as part of an investigation into ongoing thefts which had been occurring at Walmart in Sedalia since May 2021.

During the execution of the search warrant, evidence was obtained that, coupled with the investigation, led to the arrest of 53-year-old Pia L. Carter, of Sedalia.

Court documents say Carter is charged with a Class B Felony for First-Degree Burglary and a Class D Felony for Stealing of $750 or More. She is being held on a $10,000 cash or surety bond at the Pettis County Jail.

Carter’s initial hearing is pending at Pettis County Circuit Court.
