A Kansas man has been charged with a drug-related felony after an alleged incident in La Monte on Monday, June 14.

According to a probable-cause statement, a deputy was dispatched in regard to a suspicious vehicle, where the driver appeared to be asleep. Wifredo Negron-Pacheco, of Olathe, had his vehicle in drive and had been driving with a suspended driver’s license. While the arrest was being made, authorities say they smelled an odor of marijuana and located methamphetamine and Xanax.

Court documents say Negron-Pacheco is charged with felonies for Delivery of Controlled Substance, Possession of Controlled Substance and Possession of Marijuana or Synthetic Cannabinoid. Bond originally was set at $50,000 but was reduced by the court to $10,000 cash or surety.

Negron-Pacheco was arraigned on June 29. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, July 27, at Pettis County Circuit Court.
