A 33-year-old Sedalia woman who has been charged with a felony for allegedly throwing an object in the direction of law-enforcement officers on June 22 is due in court this week.

According to a Sedalia Police report, officers responded to the report of a female screaming as if she was being beaten. After investigating the situation, the two officers stepped out onto the sidewalk to discuss their concerns about a woman who they say was obviously intoxicated. While they were talking, they heard a loud bang. They say the woman had thrown a hammer that hit a window so hard that there was glass about 30 feet from the window. The hammer and glass landed within about three feet of the officers. They say it was apparent that the woman was attempting to hit one or both of the officers.

Court documents say Allison M. Wood is charged with felonies for Assault in the First Degree or Attempt- Serious Physical Injury or Special Victim and Armed Criminal Action; and a misdemeanor for property damage. Bond remains at $100,000 cash or surety.

Wood was arraigned on June 24. Her preliminary hearing is scheduled for 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, July 20, at Pettis County Circuit Court.
