
An event geared to bring the community together is scheduled for this week in a Lafayette County city.
The National Night Out event is scheduled to be held Tuesday, August 3, at Dyer Park in Odessa.
City officials say National Night Out takes place annually on the first Tuesday in August as a fun way to increase neighborhood spirit and improve police-community partnerships. The goal is to enhance the relationship between residents and law enforcement while bringing back a true sense of community, making neighborhoods safer, more caring places to live.
The event is scheduled to be held from 6:30 to 9 p.m. and is scheduled to include the Odessa Police Department, the Lafayette County Sheriff’s Office, the Missouri State Highway Patrol, the Odessa Fire & Rescue Protection District and the Missouri Department of Conservation. McGruff the crime dog also is scheduled to be there.
In addition, the pool will be open for everyone to enjoy from 7 to 9 p.m. at no cost.
