The Community Blood Center of Kansas City (CBCKC) is scheduled to sponsor a blood drive from 1 to 6 p.m. Wednesday, August 25, at Malta Bend American Legion Post 558.

Health officials say there is still a critical need for blood products, exacerbated by the cancellation of blood drives in the area due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

As a promotion, the Kansas City Royals organization is going to provide a free T-shirt or ball cap to donors. Also, Post 558 will be providing its usual gift card promotion for healthy eating at a local sandwich shop.

Organizers say, “If you plan to donate, ensure you stay hydrated prior to coming; and start the day before the drive. Given the heat advisory in the area, it is critical to stay hydrated. And please schedule an appointment…it saves you time by cutting down your time in line.”
