
Marjorie E. “Marge” Long, 93, of Marshall, MO, died Monday, August 30, at Centerpoint Medical Center in Independence.
Memorial graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, September 3, at Ridge Park Cemetery in Marshall with William W. Harlow officiating. An informal visitation will be from 10 to 10:45 a.m. Friday at Campbell-Lewis Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to Saline Animal League or First United Methodist Church. Born July 10, 1928, in Saline County, she was the daughter of the late W.A. Dennis and Hazel Foree Dennis. Marge lived in Saline County most of her life and was a 1946 graduate of Marshall High School. On May 15, 1948, she married Elwyn D. Long who preceded her in death on December 13, 2009. Marge worked outside the home after her children were grown, but she was proud to be a homemaker for her family. She was an active person and had memberships with Daughters of the American Revolution, United Daughters of the Confederacy, The Monday Club, Daughters of the American Colonies, Chics of ’46, and First United Methodist Church. Marge’s hobbies included sewing, needlework, crocheting, history, genealogy, travel, and playing the piano.
Survivors include three children: Dennis D. Long (Mary Kay) of Lee’s Summit, Debbie L. Hollrah of Marshall and John R. Long (Elizabeth) of Lee’s Summit; 10 grandchildren: Jessica Long, Kellie Long, Katie Long, Justin Hollrah (Julia Cobb), Rachel Taylor (Nathan), Sarah Stoecklein (Keeley), Jennifer Long, Jeffrey Long, Nathan Long and Austin Long; four great-grandchildren; as well as several nieces, nephews and other extended family.
In addition to her parents and husband, Marge was preceded in death by one sister, Virginia Siebert, and three brothers, John Dennis, Jesse “Bud” Dennis and David Dennis.
