A Sedalia man on parole for burglary and has been charged with another felony for allegedly burglarizing a Pettis County residence in July is due in court.

According to a Pettis County Sheriff’s report, a deputy responded to the report of somebody burglarizing a residence on Harding Road. The resident said items taken included a 12-gauge shotgun, a .380-caliber pistol and a jewelry box.

The resident said a male subject brought in items to a jewelry store and provided identification as Joseph Matthew Edwards on July 12. Authorities traced him by using the tags on the car he was driving.

Court documents say Edwards is charged with a felony for first-degree burglary. Bond remains at $25,000 cash or surety. A motion for bond reduction was denied by the court.

Edwards was arraigned on July 20. His preliminary hearing is scheduled for 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, August 31, at Pettis County Circuit Court.
