An area school district’s buildings were placed on soft lockdown on Wednesday, September 15.

According to a release from Superintendent Cara Engelbrecht, Brunswick R-2 went on soft lockdown this morning. She says there was a medical issue with a student, and emergency personnel were on site.

Engelbrecht explains during a soft lockdown, nobody is allowed to enter or leave their designated classroom, with the exception of district personnel, law enforcement and first responders. Once it has been determined the concern has passed (all clear), the school resumes normal procedures.

Engelbrecht praised the students: “I am happy to say that the students did a great job during the soft lockdown.”

Engelbrecht says if you have any questions, do not hesitate to call the school at (660) 548-3771.
