Missouri Valley College student-athletes were recognized by the NAIA as 2020-21 Daktronics Scholar Athlete Award winners on Wednesday, September 15. A total of 91 student-athletes were recognized, setting a new athletic department record.

According to a press release, eligible student-athletes must have at least a 3.5 cumulative GPA, have been eligible and competed in their respective sport, completed their sophomore year of academic coursework and enrolled at Missouri Valley for at least one full academic year.

Officials say leading all programs was the women’s soccer team, with 13 individuals recognized on the Scholar Athlete Award list. The top men’s program was the men’s soccer team with 11 individuals recognized. Women’s volleyball followed with eight individuals, and the men’s volleyball team and softball team each had seven individuals honored. In all, 22 of 23 eligible athletic programs at Missouri Valley placed at least one student-athlete on the 2020-21 Scholar Athlete Award list, with 16 programs placing multiple individuals on the list.

The 91 student-athletes recognized for the 2020-21 academic year sets a new school record, surpassing the 2019-20 total of 84 student-athletes.
