The proposed 2021-22 budget was considered for approval by the Marshall City Council during its meeting on Monday, September 20.
Ward 2 Councilman Kirk Arends touched on the bullet points of the upcoming fiscal year’s budget, including a slight bump in salary for all city workers.
Arends said the city will hire somebody for a citywide maintenance position for just little things that the city can’t otherwise do.
Arends acknowledged the budget committee is not going to make everybody happy.
Arends said the budget committee would like to have a lot more funds to dole out.
The council approved the first reading of the proposed budget. A special budget session is scheduled to be held at noon on Tuesday, September 28, to approve the final numbers. The city’s current fiscal year ends on September 30. The new fiscal year begins on October 1.
