The breakthrough rate of positive COVID-19 cases in Pettis County is nearly 20 percent.

Breakthrough cases are positive cases of persons who have been fully vaccinated- meaning they tested positive after at least two weeks following their second vaccination of Pfizer or Moderna or the single-dose Johnson & Johnson vaccine.

According to the Pettis County Health Center, there were 139 total positive tests during the week of September 12-18. That total included 27 breakthrough cases or 19.4 percent. The positivity rate was 10.7 percent during the week, which was down from 13.1 percent the week before.

Since the beginning of the pandemic, there have been 6,942 positive cases. There currently are 135 active cases in the county, including 15 persons hospitalized due to the virus. There have been 94 COVID-19-related deaths in the county.
