Steven Edward Persell, 59, of Sweet Springs, peacefully passed away on  Saturday, October 30, at Bothwell Regional Health Center in Sedalia, MO.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, November 3, at Mt. Zion Christian Church in Dunksburg, with Rev. Gene Smith officiating. Visitation will be held from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Tuesday at Campbell-Lewis Funeral Home in Sweet Springs. Visitation will also be held from 9 to 11 a.m. Wednesday at the church. Burial with military rites will be in Fairview Cemetery in Sweet Springs. Memorials are suggested to the family. Friends may sign the online register book at www.campbell-lewis.com

Born April 4, 1962, in St. Paul, MN, he was the son of the late Phillip Donald Persell and Tamara Brown Persell who survives of Northfield, MN. On April 22, 1989, he married Betty S. Iliff who survives of the home. He lived in the Sweet Springs and Emma areas most of his life and was owner and operator of Persell’s Towing and Recovery. He was a member of Mt. Zion Christian Church where he served as an elder and taught Sunday school. He was a U.S. Army veteran and a proud community member and volunteer.

Survivors include his wife, Betty; five children, Leah Myers (Douglas) of Blue Springs, Chrystal Boynton of Carrollton, MO, Steven Persell (Mandi) of Bridgewater, MA, Christopher Mullins (Kristin) of Alma, MO and Shelia Claycomb (Travis) of Bethany, MO; 15 grandchildren: Blake Persell, Nicholas Boynton, Isaac Persell, Tyler Persell, Bryce Persell, Jonathan Boynton, Emma Persell, Addison Mullins, Chloe Boynton, Gabriella Law, Maleigha Mullins, Jackson Smith, Elijah Mullins, Isabella Claycomb and Carolyn Meyers; five brothers, Tim Persell  (Diane) of Higginsville, MO, Ed Persell of Minnesota, Rich Lane (Janelle) of Minnesota, Jon Lane (Mary) of Sweet Springs and Ronald Persell of Minnesota;  one sister, Jenny Bredehoeft (Brad) of Emma, MO;  numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to his father, Steven was preceded in death by one grandson, Gavin Law.
