The Missouri Department of Conservation wants to remind area hunters that after harvesting a deer, it’s important to properly dispose of the carcass.

MDC says the best practice is to dispose of the carcass where the deer was harvested or in a certified landfill.

MDC says it’s illegal to place a deer carcass or any parts in a well, spring, creek, stream, pond or lake.

Linn County Agent Donald Fessler currently is seeking information on an illegally dumped deer thrown off the Turkey Creek Bridge just west of Brookfield. The incident is believed to have occurred between October 30 and November 1.

If you have any information, you are urged to call Agent Fessler at (660) 654-0550 or Operation Game Thief at (800) 392-1111.

The firearms portion of deer season runs Saturday, November 13, through Tuesday, November 23.
