An alleged burglar who was shot in Pettis County on Wednesday, November 10, is now facing felony charges.

According to a Sedalia Police Department Criminal Investigations Bureau report, officers responded to the 600 block of East 17th Street in reference to a burglary in progress, where they discovered the homeowner who said they were awakened to someone inside their residence. The homeowner said they began checking the home with a firearm and located the suspect inside the residence. The homeowner said they ordered the suspect to leave the home. When the suspect advanced toward the homeowner, the homeowner shot the suspect one time. The suspect fled the residence.

The 52-year-old suspect was located a short time later at Bothwell Regional Health Center, where he was treated for non-life-threatening injuries.

According to court documents, Daniel Schnack, of Sedalia, is charged with felonies for burglary and harassment. Bond is set at $50,000 cash or surety.

Schnack’s initial hearing is pending at Pettis County Circuit Court.
