A 26-year-old Independence man is facing a felony charge after a reported high-speed pursuit on multiple Lafayette County roadways into Jackson County on November 5.

According to a probable-cause statement, speeds during the chase- which started in Odessa and ended in Independence- reached speeds of up to 100 miles per hour on I-70. The pursuit also was conducted on Old Highway 40, Highway 131 and Route Z.

Court documents say Gage Mitchell is charged with a felony for resisting arrest for a felony by fleeing. The court has set bond at no bond.

Mitchell pleaded not guilty during his arraignment. His next hearing is scheduled for 9:30 a.m. on Wednesday, November 24, at Lafayette County Circuit Court.
