Charged with felonies after law-enforcement officers responded to a domestic disturbance call on December 22, 2020, a Warsaw woman has a court proceeding scheduled.

A news release says the Benton County Sheriff’s Department received a call in reference to a domestic disturbance during which a male subject was shot and killed. The Missouri State Highway Patrol says it appeared the victim had died as a result of a single gunshot wound to his upper torso. Authorities say Patricia Garvey allegedly had shot him during an argument.

Garvey claims the gun went off accidentally when the man swiped its muzzle to the side.

Garvey is charged with first-degree involuntary manslaughter and armed criminal action. Garvey posted $25,000 surety bond on December 29.

Garvey waived her preliminary hearing, and her case was bound over to the trial division on October 25. She is scheduled to be arraigned at 1 p.m. on Tuesday, November 23, at Benton County Circuit Court.
