Xi Bet Upsilon, chapter of Beta Sigma Phi, with the assistance of Sedalia Mayor John Kehde and the City Council has announced Sedalia’s 41st annual outdoor Christmas Light Contest.

According to a news release, prizes are scheduled to be awarded to the first place winner, and second and third place finishers.

City officials say prize money will be $100 for first place, $50 for second place and $25 for third place. The deadline for entering is noon Monday, December 13, with the judging to begin at 6:30 p.m. December 14. The complete display is to remain in place throughout the Christmas holiday season for the enjoyment of the community.

The contest is confined to the city limits. City employees are not eligible to participate in this contest. If individuals have not won a cash prize in the last three years, then they are also eligible to pick up and submit an application to the Mayor’s Office at 200 South Osage Avenue in Sedalia, or email the completed application to webmaster@cityofsedalia.com.

The Christmas Light Contest applications can also be found online at www.cityofsedalia.com.

The judging will be done on a point-basis categories. Categories include lighting, eye appeal, originality and overall appeal.
