On Thursday, December 9, the Boonville Police Department are two area residents. Both residents are being charged with a drug related felony, as well as a involuntary manslaughter charge.

According to a press release, 54-year-old Gary W. McCormick and 59-year-old Tamara J. Simmons, of Boonville, are being charged with of delivery of a controlled substance and involuntary manslaughter.

Authorities say the arrests stemmed from an incident, in which McCormick and Simmons allegedly provided drugs to a Boonville man who soon died afterwards from an opioid drug overdose.

Both suspects were transported to the Cooper County Jail on arrest warrants for the charges. Initial hearings are pending at Cooper County Circuit Court.
