Five seats are up for election on the Marshall City Council in the few months.
Two incumbents did not file to run for another term, and there will be one race between two candidates.
According to the list of candidates who have filed provided by the City of Marshall, Ward 2 Councilman Kirk Arends is seeking another two-year term. He will be opposed by Tim Reeder.
Ward 1 Councilman Leon Thompson did not file to run for another term. The only candidate to file to run for that seat is Drew Green.
Ward 3 Dan Brandt and Ward 4 Councilmen Craig Thompson, respectively, are running unopposed for their seats.
Phesa Wright was appointed by Mayor Julie Schwetz and approved by the council to fill a vacant seat in early November. However, she did not file to run for the one year left on that term. In fact, nobody filed to run for that seat.
After the election, Mayor Schwetz will need to appoint a person- who will need to be approved by the council- to fill that seat.
The Municipal Election is scheduled for Tuesday, April 5, 2022.
