
Betty Vogelsmeier Zimmerschied, 85, of Sweet Springs, died Friday, January 7, at Golden Oaks Assisted Living in rural Marshall.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, January 13, at Campbell-Lewis Chapel in Sweet Springs with William W. Harlow officiating. Masks are required and appreciated for the service. Burial will follow at Fairview Cemetery. There is no set visitation, but friends may call from 10 to 10:45 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Born February 27, 1936, in Sweet Springs, she was the daughter of the late Raymond Vogelsmeier and Nadyne Urie Vogelsmeier. On June 20, 1954, she married James Vickrey, they later divorced, and he preceded her in death in 1987. On June 2, 1990, she married Charles Zimmerschied. Betty and her mother owned and operated the “V” Restaurant in Sweet Springs for many years until retiring in 1985. She also worked for Benny Meador Tax Service and Knight Tax Service before retiring. Betty enjoyed many years visiting the Lake of the Ozarks where the family owned a cabin on the lake. She also enjoyed reading, cooking, traveling, and spending time with her grandchildren.
In addition to her husband, Charles; she is survived by one son, Steve Vickrey (Debbie) of Sweet Springs; four granddaughters: Kimbra Bray (Ryan) and Jaime Sims (Justin), both of Round Rock, TX, Krystal Girton (Brad) of Mahomet, IL, and Kelley Wittenborn of Columbia, MO; nine great grandchildren: Sophia, Miles, and Juliet Bray, Max and Genevieve Sims, Henry and Vivian Girton, and Parker and Addison Wittenborn.
Betty was preceded in death by her parents; one daughter, Susan Marcum; and one daughter in infancy.
