Three Illinois residents were arrested after a truck fire was ruled arson in Boonville.
According to a probable-cause statement, officers responded to a call in the area of Rolling Hills Park on January 9, to investigate a minivan following another vehicle too closely. Authorities identified 24-year-old Austin Sturtevant, 43-year-old Susan Finney and 22-year-old Ashley Fuller – all of Kewanee, Illinois – to be the occupants of the van. The van was also allegedly seen at the scene of a truck fire near the park.
During the investigations, officers alleged Sturtevant gave a false identity at the beginning of the interview, as he was on parole and his Parole Officer did not know he had left the state of Illinois. Further information from the interview revealed Fuller said she had seen the truck catch fire as they pulled off. When Finney was asked if Sturtevant had set the truck on fire, she said “probably.”
Court documents say Sturtevant, Finney and Fuller are each facing felony charges for second-degree arson. Bond has been set at $10,000 for each subject.
All three subjects were arraigned on January 11, their next hearing is scheduled for 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, January 18, at Cooper County Circuit Court.
