A 29-year-old Kansas City woman who is facing multiple felony charges after an alleged high-speed pursuit in Lafayette County on October 28 has been ordered by the court to undergo mental treatment.

According to a report from a Missouri State Highway Patrol trooper, he says he clocked an eastbound vehicle traveling at 91 miles per hour on I-70. The vehicle’s driver refused to stop for the trooper, increasing the speed to 95 mph. The driver maintained speeds between 84 and 100 mph for about 20 miles. The vehicle’s tires were deflated by spikes near Concordia, and the driver veered the vehicle into the median. Bri’Anna Renee Mitchell attempted to flee but was pinned between the door frame and the driver’s door as the vehicle rolled into the cable barrier. Authorities noted four distraught children inside Mitchell’s vehicle.

According to court documents, Mitchell is charged with four counts of a felony for endangering the welfare of a child and a felony for resisting arrest. Bond remains at $50,000 cash or surety.

Mitchell pleaded not guilty on November 2. Her next hearing is set for 9:30 a.m. Wednesday, April 20, at Lafayette County Circuit Court.
