Authorities arrested two Sedalia residents after traffic stops in Pettis County on Tuesday, March 1.

A release from the Sedalia Police Department says detectives with the Crime Resolution Unit initiated two traffic stops on vehicles leaving a residence in the 1600 block of West 9th Street- a residence determined to be involved in illegal drug activity, including possible drug sales.

The first arrest was of the primary resident- 29-year-old Tyler N. Rusk, whom authorities say was in possession of fentanyl.

Although 30-year-old Ahmad J. Dupree attempted to flee another traffic stop, he too was apprehended after a short distance and him resisting. He allegedly was found to be in possession of methamphetamine with intent to distribute.

Court documents say Rusk is charged with a felony for delivery of a controlled substance and a drug-related misdemeanor. Bond is set at $100,000 cash or surety.

Dupree is charged with felonies for delivery of a controlled substance, resisting arrest and driving while revoked or suspended. Bond is set at $50,000 cash or surety.

An initial hearing for each subject is pending at Pettis County Circuit Court.

In addition to the arrests and state charges, the residence was determined to be in violation of a city ordinance- prohibition against maintaining a nuisance property. The residence was posted with notice of the violation, mandating the property owner to resolve the violation within 60 days.
