A man is dead following a three-vehicle crash on Friday, March 18.

According to a Missouri State Highway Patrol crash report, the incident occurred as an eastbound freightliner, driven by 48-year-old Noel Moise of Florida, was stopped in traffic – followed by a Toyota Prius driven by a 33-year old Katherine Calgett of Kansas City.

Another semitrailer driven by 55-year-old Momchil I. Petrov, of Chesterfield was unable to stop in a timely manner, forcing the Prius into the median, while the two semitrailers collided. Petrov’s cab separated from its frame and flipped on its side.

Petrov was pronounced dead at the hospital. The other two drivers were also taken to the hospital with minor and moderate injuries.

The crash happened at 4:49 p.m. at the 102.8 mile marker on I-70 in Cooper County.
