A couple of felony charges have been filed against a Columbia man after a traffic stop was conducted on Highway 240 and 290th Road in Slater on Sunday, April 24.
According to a report from a Saline County deputy, Brandon Darrell Pena allegedly identified himself as Zackery Brink. Pena also is alleged to have thrown an item off his person, which was retrieved by the deputy. The syringe’s brownish liquid is said to have tested positive for methamphetamine. The deputy also says he located several different credit cards with different names and a forged male’s identification card. Also, while in custody, the deputy says Pena signed several official documents indicating he is Brink. The deputy says Pena provided false identification to avoid apprehension due to having outstanding warrants for his arrest through District 17.
Court documents say Pena is charged with felonies for trafficking in stolen identities and forgery and a drug-related misdemeanor. Bond is fixed at $10,000 cash only.
Pena was arraigned on Wednesday, April 27. A confined docket hearing is scheduled for 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, May 4. His preliminary hearing is set for 1:30 p.m. on May 25 at Saline County Circuit Court.
